week 5

I began searching for the elements of a story and found 5 :

introduction - rising action - climax - falling action - resolution

 OR

who - when - where - what - why/how

The five natural senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.

The 5 Elements: Fire, air, water and Earth and Spirit.

"To practice five things under all circumstances constitutes perfect Virtue, these five are gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness, and kindness." Confucius

There were 5 of you tonight and it was the 5th rehearsal.

5 is a prime number.

  1. I took many things from this rehearsal. I felt challenged and at times frustrated with the work. Exploring face, gesture and sound is a practice that I do frequently. It had a theatrical component to it. Initiating an expression from my left cheek and letting it develop through my entire face was strange and sometimes uncomfortable. Engaging in a lengthy improvisation with Emmett, Elizabeth, Jay and Georgia was truly "cool". I felt so aware of each person's face and features and I found the relationships and narratives developed so clearly and naturally. I felt such a strong sense of trust within the group, and that we were on some kind of a journey together, and that this made us a community. I was also completely unaware of how I was "moving". I am usually so focused on how my body moves in the space and the shapes that I make. I was oblivious to how my body was moving, and I found that to be refreshing.
